Bitter-sweet weekend in Lonato for Alex Irlando

AlexINews

Locorotondo’s Alex Irlando started the weekend really well, but the disqualification and a DNF ruin his race.

The WSK Open Cup was a training race before the final event of the CIK-FIA KZ European Championship that will start in Lonato on July 13th. It was an occasion to test new solutions and to look for a good set-up in view of the next race.

On Friday in qualifying Alex took 8th overall out of 43 drivers. In the first manche Alex finished 3rd gaining one position, but the worse was yet to come: Alex won the second heat, but he was under the minimum weight and was diqualified. In the third and last heat Sodikart’s ace didn’t finish the race. In the end Alex qualified 29th overall.

Starting from P15 the prefinal A, Alex was able to recover up to 8th replicating the same comeback in the final race.

“I’m quite happy for my pace and my speed, but I have to admit that on Saturday I was really disappointed about the outcome of the last two heats! I paid my bill with Lady Luck this week so I hope to have her watching my back at the CIK-FIA European Championship next month! I’d like to thank Sodikart and TM for the material, my family and my sponsors for the support.”

The next race is the CIK-FIA KZ European Championship in Lonato, Italy, from July 13th to 15th.
