Sodikart’s Alex Irlando will start the CIK-FIA European Championship in direct drive class this weekend in Sarno.

From KZ to OK: Alex Irlando returns at the wheel of a direct drive kart for the first round of the CIK-FIA European Championship. Last year he drove a direct drive kart on two occasions: in Sarno for the first round of the CIK-FIA European Championship and in Le Mans for the CIK-FIA Endurance Championship.

Thanks to the new CIK-FIA calendar that divides direct drive classes and shifter classes, Alex will participate to both OK and KZ events.

“It is a huge challenge for me, I will be out of my comfort zone! ­– confesses Alex – I’m not used to race direct drive karts since this is my third year with the KZ. However I’m really excited to test myself in this competition, it’s the opportunity to demonstrate that I’m versatile driver. Last year in the CIK-FIA Endurance Championship I was pretty fast so I hope to have a good race this weekend in Sarno. My teammate Tom Joyner worked hard to develop the chassis and I will do my best to contribute to the development of it.”
